Collaboration with Graffinis
New York City-based swimwear design label Graffinis has just launched its premier line of luxury women’s silk kimonos. Ideal for lounging by the beach or pool, or for around the apartment, Graffinis robes will initially be available exclusively at Chelsea boutique Sugar Cookies, which represents a “curated collection of lingerie, loungewear and swimwear.”
With Graffinis swimwear already having been featured in Maxim, Sports Illustrated and Teen Vogue among others, founder of Sugar Cookies Susanne Alvarado suggested the label develop a line of kimonos.
This new line will come in all-natural, sheer silk chiffon and opaque silk charmeuse, and will feature Graffinis’ signature fabric print designs. Photographs – ranging from a close-up of sea glass to the neon signs and colorful graffiti of New York City, taken by Graffinis’ Creative Director Paul Cartelli himself – are transformed into digitally printed material.
Graffinis kimonos are designed for women who are conscious of their own unique qualities and authenticity as a woman. Colors are chosen to compliment different skin tones, from dark, through tan, to fair. And prints are engineered to fit each part of the garment, and to ensure color balance and style that works with the body rather than disguising it.
